Morning Mindset

Some mornings, we wake up brimming with energy and optimism, eager to embrace the day ahead, but other times, we face challenges that can weigh us down. Recognising our humanity, we've learned that taking a moment to set our intentions can truly transform our day. This is our simple 5-step approach…

First, we start by reminding ourselves that today is not just another day in our lives, it is the one gift that we have right now. And our only appropriate response is gratefulness and to make the most of it. To make it count…

 

Second, we take an Attitude Check...how are we feeling about things? How are we right now? Is there joy, ease and lightness in what we are about to do today? If not, we determine to change how we are approaching it. 
 

Third, we set our Priorities for the day:

 

  1. What’s urgent - What’s required of us today? What absolutely needs our attention? 

  2. What’s important - What will generate the greatest return on our time investment, consistent with our Life  Balance goals? 

  3. What can wait? - If it's not Urgent and/or Important, then do we really need to spend our precious time on it today?

 

Fourth, we remind ourselves to choose a positive approach to everything that we’re going to do today with one of only three mindsets...

  • Acceptance: Whatever the present moment contains, we try to accept it as if we had chosen it. We try to work with it, not against it, reminding ourselves that for now, this is what this situation, this moment, requires us to do, and so we do it willingly; 

  • Enjoyment: flowing enjoyment into whatever we are doing at this moment; or

  • Enthusiasm: as we work towards a particular longer-term goal.
     

Finally, we make a personal commitment to take action on the Priorities we've just set ourselves. We find that writing down these Priorities ​makes a massive difference to ensuring we achieve them!
 

We find this simple approach to starting our day helps us set clear intentions, embrace gratitude, and transform the way we show up for life.  And make today count.
